My presentation (new one here!)
by Skepsis ini registered in the board and i wanted to present myself.. i used to visit this forum some time ago and even register an account but then i tried to convince myself all was ok in the congregation.
now, i'm coming back :).

Dear Skepsis.... Have you ever seen the movie "The Truman Show"? An insurance salesman/ adjuster discovers his life is just a TV show...
Can you imagine? All the people around you are actors and actresses, playing a nonsensical game. Would you worry about "fading" out of the TV show? What value did your life have?
What I like is what this guy did to escape "The Show"..... He didn't announce "I AM LEAVING" He faked everyone out, and escaped.
When I was leaving, I said, "Hey, this all is worth nothing, it is a game, a made up game"..... So, to keep everyone off my back, and give me time.... I just started entering hours on my "Time Report"!
If you want to "Keep pioneering", just write the hours in, and do something better with your time, and none will be the wiser!
You will love your freedom, enjoy!
Cha Ching!
(PS, your english is very good, and Scratchme1010 & Magnum had some very good suggestions! Do not get married..... can you say "complicated"?)

Watchtower's "New Light" re Babylonish Captivity, November 2016 WT
by Room 215 inhas anyone noticed the wt's most recent shell-game revisionism in the november study tractazine, relating to the shifting of its "babylonish captivity" doctrine, from a 3 1/2-year period around the ww 1 years, to a period now spanning about 16 centuries, or from the 4th century (constantine's legal recognition of christianity) to 1919?.

Hmm? More details please....
In the past 3 1/2 years were... dang! I can't remember! Yay! But I do remember that 3.5 times in Revelation were 3.5 literal years, and a few words later, it represented a "short time".
What does the article say?

How to argue with a JW who says the org never said the end in 75
by dogon ini have argued with several jws who are now being trained to deny the org ever said the end in 75, what is your approach?.
-
cha ching
I like that, Island Man!
That is is exactly what the WT does, great catch! :
"Well Satan never explicitly told Eve that God was a selfish ruler withholding good from humans and that humans are better off ruling themselves, did he? Yet the org. reads those insinuations into Satan's words and charges him with being just as guilty as if he had explicitly said it! So since the org. judges others for what they do not explicitly say but insinuate; then it is only fair that others also judge the org. for what it does not explicitly say but clearly insinuates."

Do JW's ever really grow up ?
by Phizzy ini ask the above because of my personal experience.
as a born-in i was naive, socially inept and had never really thought deeply about anything.. i was also unable to accept arguments based upon reason and facts.. just like a child.. it was only after freeing myself from the mind-control of the jw cult that i educated myself and matured as a person to being (almost) an adult.. jw's attitudes and their inability to debate in any meaningful way, (they could start by actually listening),means they have not grown up..

It is definitely an interesting subject, I have spoken about this with my sister. My mother, still a JW (since 1960), has never really matured, she is just like a child. She didn't need to deal with "the real world", which meant that her personality did not develop with experience. Just like a child, she was shielded from dealing with adult situations.
Me? Not so bad, however, I will say that I am lacking experience that my husband has, as he was a construction contractor, and had to deal with "worldly" situations and people all the time. He discussed these things with me, but it is quite different when you are "the one" that has to go head to head with someone.
Socially, in JW world I got along just fine, had many friends.... but, of course, they have to be your friend because we are a "spiritual family." I hate to think of what it would have been like if they didn't "have" to like me, as some said, "it took me two years to really get to know you, and I really love you now, but before, I just couldn't understand you... However, after leaving JWville, I did make friends with the nurses while working at a hospital. No problem there...
After you leave......... what do you talk about? That has been hard for me. I don't know "politics", haven't "traveled", am not into "sports"... can't talk about the "games" as JWs are not suppose to be into that. Etc, etc..... That does make it hard. No experiences, no talk....
My sister has been isolated for a lot of her life.... She never got baptized, but was always an "outsider" JW... Being nice to the older ones in the congregation, going to meetings most of the time, but always fearing Armageddon. She was isolated from "the world" and also JWs, as she was never "in" all the way... right? You know how it is, never in the world, never in "the truth.' Limbo... So, I would say that she has been limited also.
Conclusion: Yes, I would say that many JWs are not as "grown up" as they would have been, if they had really experienced "life".

The more I see of the WT, and the more I know about them, the more I think that they just put whatever the heck numbers they want in the "Yearbook"... right?
i.e.: "We are $9,000 behind in costs for this assembly"

Jehovah's Witnesses ARE Christians, why do so many ex JW's deny this?
by nicolaou injehovah's witnesses accept jesus as christ, the son of god.
they try, in their own way, to live by his teachings and imitate him.
they pray, read the bible and meet together regularly for worship.. i won't minimise any of the harm and damage they cause but for the life of me, i can't see how anyone can credibly deny that they are christians.. why do so many former jws have a problem with this?
-
cha ching
For me, if you heard me say "they are not Christian", it would be a phrase to mean:
"If you want to call yourselves Christian, then act 'Christ like' "
"Christians" say that Jesus was humble, or kind, or compassionate, or stood up for what was right, did not cave into hypocrisy. "Christians" say that they are "followers of Christ"
So when this type of person acts the opposite of "Christ".... I say, "they are not Christian"
Just as when a Vegan eats meat all the time.... Can we really call them 'Vegan'/
